Mind/Body Health Toolkit
The public education campaign’s latest direction, "Mind/Body Health: For a Healthy Mind and Body, Talk to a Psychologist" will highlight psychology’s unique role at the intersection between mental and physical well-being. The campaign achieves several goals. It provides a framework that encompasses traditional mental health messages, messages of resilience and messages about psychologically healthy workplaces. It educates about the breadth of psychology, from illness to health promotion, prevention, and wellness; from traditional mental health care to physical health care; from treatment of the traditional depression and anxiety to providing strategies on handling everyday stressors. And it provides more directive language that describes how psychologists in particular are the mental health professionals best trained to bring together the research and practice to help people achieve mind/body health.
This toolkit contains all you need to conduct community outreach, from PowerPoint presentations and handouts to resources to learn more about the mind/body connection. The toolkit includes:
-- Information on participating in health fairs and other public education events
-- Tips and strategies on dealing with the media
-- APA’s Fortune magazine supplement “A New Health Care Prescription”
-- Useful statistics and data on mind/body health
-- Fact sheets on mind/body health topics such as stress, heart disease, and obesity
